As the leader of FGMA’s Federal practice, Andy embraces the opportunity to inspire design teams to excellence. “I’m primarily motivated by working with people who share my passion for this profession as well as the opportunity to translate an idea into a facility." Andy has a proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and revels in watching his teams’ collective efforts come to life.

Before focusing on the federal design marketplace, Andy worked primarily in FGMA’s PK-12 school practice. “My favorite part of those projects was seeing students and school staff experience the new or renovated spaces.” Today, he feels that satisfaction by creating facilities that improve the lives of soldiers and their families.

Growing up, Andy loved to draw, and when he met a recruiter from Ranken Technical College, he realized that he could translate his talent into a profession. “I have always been drawn to the technical ‘nuts and bolts’ side of the industry, which leans heavily on problem solving, collaboration and teamwork to come up with the final solution.” After joining FGMA, Andy’s colleagues first inspired him to pursue licensure and then helped him grow into a project manager, principal-in-charge, and practice leader.

When he’s not at work, Andy is a traveler. “I like going to new cities – to experience the architecture and figure out how other architects solved design problems.” He attributes his team-focused mentality to his longtime love of playing hockey.
