FGM Architects Inc. (FGMA) welcomes Principal Ed Ault to lead its Multifamily/Mixed-Use practice from the firm’s Northern Virginia office. With over two decades of experience in multifamily and mixed-use development, Ed’s creativity and thought leadership equip him to guide the strategy for this practice area.
Before joining FGMA, Ed was the Vice President and Director of Design for Middleburg Communities. Prior to that, he was the Director of Design for AvalonBay Communities for over a decade, where he managed the design process for a $3.5 billion pipeline of 110+ communities in various stages of development. Ed began his career as a project architect for an Atlanta-based design firm, where he worked on several multi-million-dollar projects. Over the span of his career, Ed has been instrumental in the construction of over 35,000 apartment units.
FGMA’s emerging multifamily portfolio includes The Willow, a 338-unit residence with resort-level amenities in Charleston, South Carolina; and Elms at the Refuge, a nine-building, 330-unit community adjacent to wildlife reserves and equidistant from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland. Notable mixed-use projects include FGMA’s award-winning Alexandria Fire Station 209 at Potomac Yard, which combines a fire station and 64 affordable-housing and workforce-housing apartments. FGMA’s Reston office serves clients across the Atlantic coast and also focuses on fire station design, multifamily and mixed-use projects, recreation and golf facilities, and faith-based facilities.
FGMA is an employee-owned design firm with more than 200 professionals in eight offices across five states.
